How a Bag Is Earned
For a successful numeric bid, every trick above your bid adds one point and one bag. Bid six and win eight tricks: the hand is worth 62 points before bag penalties, with two new bags. Bags belong to the individual player in Duel and carry across hands.
The Ten-Bag Penalty
Every ten accumulated bags subtract 100 points, and any remainder carries forward. With eight bags already, the two new bags in the example reach ten: the hand becomes 62 minus 100, or -38 points, and the bag count returns to zero. If you go from nine to twelve bags, the penalty applies once and three bags remain.
Deciding Whether to Take an Extra Trick
Making your bid comes first: missing a numeric contract loses ten points per bid trick. Once it is secure, check the bag counter before taking optional tricks. During the drawing phase, new cards can change your options, so re-evaluate after each draw. NIL uses its own +100 or -100 result; the current Duel scoring does not add new bags from a NIL hand.
