Klondike starts with 28 cards across seven columns and the remaining cards in the stock. Only the top card of each column is initially face up. Your goal is to move all 52 cards onto four suit foundations.

How to play

  1. Build foundations from Ace to King in the same suit.
  2. On the table, place a lower card on a card one rank higher and of the opposite colour. A valid face-up sequence can move together.
  3. Only a King or a sequence beginning with a King can fill an empty column.
  4. Draw from the stock when you need another card. This version draws one card at a time; only the top waste card is shown and available to play.

Example

A black seven can go onto a red eight. A red seven cannot. An exposed Ace can start its suit foundation immediately.

Playing tip

Look for moves that turn over a hidden card. Before sending a useful low card to a foundation, consider whether you still need it to organise the table.

Frequently asked questions

Can I undo a move?

Yes, in classic play. Undo restores the earlier board and its score. Live races do not offer undo.

Is every deal solvable?

A shuffled Klondike deal is not a promise of a solution. You can start a new deal if you run out of useful moves.
